Wifi Hotspot tower and 4G LTE question

I am moving to a rural area. Internet choices are terrible. Satellite offers very little and forces a 2 year contract with terrible rates and reviews and broadband says they aren't available. I looked up AT&T to create a wifi hotspot and it looks like it wouldn't be at my address on their map but shows it is nearby at a neighbor's home. On my Tracfone, I do get 4G LTE right at that address and can easily surf around. My question is if I get 4G LTE on Tracfone wouldn't I also get it via AT&T? I have heard they use the same towers. Thanks!

You might have a WISP near your. They use water towers and other towers to provide internet to rural areas. You can drive around and see if people have antenna on their houses. They most times look like rectangular white boxes but some use what looks like a satellite dish...but pointing horizontal.

The largest issue using LTE is going to be the cost. There are quite a few so called unlimited plans for phones. As soon as you use hot spot it is considered tethered and falls in another type of service. I have not seen any that have unlimited tethered use. Of course it is "unlimited" for the plans that charge you $/gbyte.

Since this is a rather expensive thing you are looking at you might consider spending some money...

Thank you! I had no idea it worked that way. I do know a neighbor says that AT&T comes in fine for calls but I am unaware of anyone who uses them for a hotspot in that area via 4G LTE.

Since this is a rather expensive thing you are looking at you might consider spending some money just testing. You should be able to get prepaid data dongles from a number of providers at places like walmart. They generally tell in the fine print which networks they are on. You should be able to even get some of the larger providers like att directly.

Another method that works is to drive around and look for cell towers. In the country it is actually easier because they stand out in the city they put them on large street lights and stuff. Many times you can get close enough to get a photo of the tower id number. Otherwise get close GPS coordinates. There are a number of sites you can look up which vendors have FCC licensees to transmit on what towers.
