I recently added an extra fan to my pc and when I was done I heard a ticking noise from PSU. My first year with it I had a bit of coil whine but now its gone but now that weird ticking noise is there. Is it the same coil whine or is it bad.

If temporarily stopping that PSU fan steps the ticking then is IS that fan with the problem. Very often such a noise is because the fan blades are rubbing against something like a wire that has shifted out of place. You MAY be able to see that by peering carefully through the fan slots with the unit not running.

This is something that can be very difficult to fix. There are two problems, BOTH related to the fact that fixing it means opening up the PSU, and that involves disconnecting it from everything, removing from your case, fixing and then re-installing. FIRST any such effort will void the warranty. Secondly, you really need to know how to do such work safely. There are components inside with substantial charges stored that can injure you, even possibly fatally! So unless you DO have knowledge and experience, DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS AT HOME!

Ok, The weird part is that now I don't hear it anymore( when I took the extra fan out that I had in my case). I think it was the fan because it was an old fan that I got from a different computer.
