New mobo and CPU, can't use the mouse in Windows

I just changed out several components in my computer, the two biggest ones being the CPU and mobo. I can get to the BIOS and to Windows just fine, and I can use my keyboard and mouse in the BIOS just fine, but both don't work in Windows. I've tried plugging my mouse into every USB jack (3.0 and 2.0) on the I/O panel and my case, but Windows doesn't pick up on my mouse. I'm at a loss as to what to do at this point.

The only thing I can think of is that I never uninstalled any old drivers for my previous mobo, so I imagine those could be causing a compatibility problem... possibly. I don't know for sure, but that's the only potential issue I can think of right now.

Any ideas?

You are going to have all sorts of issues doing and upgrade of that level. Also there is no support for Windows 7 on a driver level on a platform that new, and Microsoft is blocking security updates to Windows 7 on 200 series boards and later. Best option is to Install Windows 10.
USB 2.0 doesnt work as you dont have the chipset drivers download or installed for that board, And i dont think there are drivers for the 300 series chipset for Windows 7.

If you wipe your SSD the HDD"s data stays, if you want to be extra sure you can disconnect the HDD's before installing Windows 10.

If you really want to try 7 (which probably wont work) you will need to get the USB drivers and slipstream them into the Windows install media and rebuild...

What version of Windows do you have (7,8,10) and what motherboard did you swap from and to?
You need to have the right USB drivers installed and if this is Windows 7 USB3 drivers are not preloaded and can be specific to the board, even if you wanted to re-install Windows 7 you will need to manually slipstream in the drivers

I currently have windows 7, and I'm going from a ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 to a Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING ATX LGA1151.

Do I need drivers for the USB2.0 jacks? I figure the 3.0s aren't going to work until I get some kind of drivers updated, but I'm not sure about the 2.0 jacks. I realize it still might be causing an issue and I'll still need to reinstall Windows.

One more dumb question: Windows is on my SSD, and I have 2 HDDs with some vital information on them. If I reinstall windows, is it just going to wipe the information on my SSD, or will it affect the information on my two HDDs?
