I'm having an issue on weather to stick with my 1080 founders edition or upgrade to a 1080 sli because I wanna start 1440p,4k gaming and also future proof my pc.The reason why I'm hesitant on doing it is because do games still support sli and is it worth the extra 375.00 bucks for another 1080

no, don't bother with SLI with the new 10 series cards, while some new games and applications can still take advantage of this they are few and far between, older games that could take full advantage of this will of course still do so but honestly, it's not worth the money. Just overclock your card and have fun. And also, there's not much in the way of "future proofing" your PC like that. I'd say look into selling it and investing the money gained from it and a little bit of the money you are already thinking of investing into another one and get a better 1080 with proper cooling solution on it and overclock that, or look into getting a 1080ti if it's within budget. But definitely just overclock and enjoy the extra performance.

My GTX 1080 works fine at stock speeds. Your only limit with the FE GTX 1080 is thermal dissipation. Without a 3rd party cooler it will likely run hotter but it shouldn't be an issue. My 1080 gets great FPS at 1440p. To the point where I'm currently shopping for a high refresh rate 1440p monitor.

yea im bottle necking this gpu so much rn lmao my processor is a first gen i7 920 lmao, the reason being is because I just threw a 1080 in my old Alienware and im getting about 70 to 80 frames in heavy gpu games and when overclocked im getting 80 to 90.I tried overclocking to 100 percent and all temps reached a max of 67 degrees and my fps was mid 90s on 1440p on a 144hz monitor
