I just bought a graphics card to install in my sons PC and it doesn't display on the monitor. There is an extra power supply cable and wondered if I need to plugs this in. If I do I'm not sure where abouts I am suppose to plug this in? Would be grateful for any help. Thanks

Yes. If the graphics card has a power connection (typically a PCIE 6=pin), it needs to be connected. Check your power supply for a 6-pin or 6+2-pin power connector and use that to power the graphics card.

Edit:

This is what it looks like:

Thanks, just wondering, the power cable that I have plugs into the graphics card but the end is like white plastic with 3 pins in it and I was thinking now that maybe it needs an adapter. I have a place which is labelled SATA and think maybe it should plug into there but needs an adapter. What do you think?
Sorry this is a bit basic but never really done anything like this before

If you mean something like this:

Then this is probably what came with your graphics card. Check the cables from your power supply to see if the end of any of them match the image I first posted. It doesn't matter if it doesn't have the little, 2-pin add on.

Hi
Thanks for this. Yes I have this cable but realise that the white end doesn't fit in the computer and I need a cable with a sata connecter on it. I am going to look in the pc again to check whether I need a male or female connecter as all the 6 pin to sata connecters look slightly different so wonder what is in the PC so I can get the right one.
