(Laptop) 8250U vs 7200U

Does processor speed matter in the case of these two processors? The 7200U is much faster, however it has less cores/threads so I assume the 8250U is better, however i'm not quite sure. It will mostly be used for light laptop gaming and everyday browsing.

The 7200u is not faster, the 8250u can just crank down to a lower Ghz to save power. The 8250u is better hands down.

My bad, I was just comparing the base frequencies. How long could the 8250U sustain it's turbo frequency?

That really depends on the laptop and how good its cooling really is. If you could slap it in a normal desktop it could go full turbo non-stop with no problem. But in a laptop the thermal headroom is way, way smaller.

Best you can do is just acknowledge that any super-thin laptop is definitely going to hit thermal limits sooner than a big beefy one.
