Struggling to run even the simplest of games that PC should be able to run

So my Friend recently bought a PC, neither him nor myself know a huge deal about them, luckily for me my brother does and custom built mine for me, however when it came to his we were at a bit of a loss and could only go off of what we could understand on the page.

He had a pretty low budget of about £300-£350, which we did know enough to know wasn’t enough to get anything really powerful or high quality, but out in his words all he wanted was something that could “be used to complete coursework and play fortnite, even if it has to be at lowest settings”

https://www.awd-it.co.uk/amd-a6-6400k-all-in-one-league-of-legends-22-led-monitor-gaming-pc-package.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjqG_66_L2wIVB90bCh2U4gtzEAQYAiABEgIO3fD_BwE

This PC was what he went with in the end, suspiciously cheap considering a monitor is included , however the reviews were good (as few and I detailed as they were) and it specifically claimed to be able to run games like Counter strike and League of legends.

After initial setup he installed Fortnite and set all of the settings to the lowest possible and the performance was virtually non existent- he assumed this is just cause of how cheap it was and accepted he’d have to move on from thatbuntik he can afford to upgrade it.

However now, even when trying to run a little 2D flash-based game on Miniclip.com the PC struggles to perform.

I was wondering if there is any technical reason for this to try and help him out, some googling has mentioned installing up to date drivers, however this means very little to us simpletons.

Any helps is appreciated :)

P.S. If it is simply because it is a crappy system is there any sort of action that can be taken about the false performance claims made in the site?

start with the simple stuff. look at the mb used and then go to the mb web site. make sure it has the newest bios on the mb. then go to amd web page download the newest chipset and video drivers for the mb. if that does not help if there a local pc store that you can pick up a 1050/1-50ti or a newer amd gpu for testing and then can return it or use one from a friend for testing. see if the cpu will not bottlebeck a better gpu then the one on the cpu chip. if your friend used a credit card to order the pc do a charge back and ask for an rma due to false advertising. for games now have your friend look at the entry level ryzen or intel g cpu there more powerfull then cpu he has now. with any gaming rig he need a gaming gpu see if he can...

I have an Intel HD 530 on an old laptop I have (Core i7-6700hq (CPU is many times better than yours which might be a variable but in this case I don’t think it is).

The Intel HD 530 can BARELY manage 30 FPS on all low settings. Sorry to tell you but your friends pc may not be able to even handle some coursework.

The PC can be upgraded (buy a GT 1030 for $70) but that’s as far as it’ll go.
