my friend got an old (well, atleast I think it's old) motherboard and his system only comes with 2GB of RAM. I installed CPU-Z and found out that the memory is DDR3. But, when I tried to install 4GB of DDR3 1333Hz RAM, it won't post, all I got was three beeps from the motherboard (RAM incompatibility issue I suppose). What kind of RAM do I need to upgrade this thing?

If you're curious about the other specs here they are: Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Motheroboard: Samsung DeskTop System G41M03S1 (got the motherboard model number from looking at the motherboard itself. My friend can't find the motherboard manual) RAM: 2GB RAM OS: Windows 7 64-bit

The Samsung G41 only supports 2GB RAM maximum, hence your problem.

It shipped with only 512MB RAM, so someone has upgraded it to the max already.

To be able to use your more RAM you're going to need a different laptop model.
