What would be a worthwhile upgrade from a Phenom II 4x 805 on a ga-ma785gm-us2h motherboard? It's a cheaper build for Minecraft and fortnite. Also what is the best gpu you would pair with the cpu.

Solved! Thanks Guys

The max you can run is a Phenom II X4 940 3ghz, your 805 is at 2.5ghz the difference isn't worth dropping $40 on. You can overclock what you have stable to 3ghz easy enough on the stock cooler and maybe higher with a aftermarket. For Minecraft just about anything will work but Fortnight you want a CPU that stays above 3ghz and the best GPU you can find. A 750 TI works pretty well for both games, has a low power draw and you can find fairly cheap. The power supply is going to limit the options as you don't know the quality and the Legacy BIOS makes newer GPU's troublesome because there are no guarantees they will even fire up.

Agreed, I wouldn't try for more than a GTX 750 ti or an AMD R7 260. Anything more than either is a waste. Look for a good used deal on eBay.

Leave your current CPU in the rig. Any gains (small, if any) don't warrant the cost. Try OCing as suggested.

Ebay hasn't been a great place for used hardware for the last 6 months or so.. lots and lots of crackheads jacking up prices but right now with the 15% off and some searching you might get lucky. I find better deals on reddit Hardwareswap using Paypal as the medium for payment.

Make a offer they generally go in the $50-$80 range
