Kaby Lake-X vs Skylake-X on Windows 7

Hey,

I'm going to be putting together a computer in a few days and I've read a couple of articles (although not recent articles) that state Kaby Lake-X isn't supported on Windows 7. I've read about workarounds and I'm sure I can get it set up, that isn't a problem, I'm just concerned about a possible performance reduction using an older OS.

Would it be a better idea to instead purchase a 7820x (Skylake-X) instead of the 7740x as I've read that Skylake-X is actually supported by Windows 7. Would appreciate it if anybody can give me an answer as most posts/articles I've read are not the most up-to-date.

The motherboard will likely be an ASUS Strix x299-E.

Thank you.

If I were you I'd take the 100% guarantee that you won't have any compatibility issues. But at the end of the day it is all up to what you want to do with your build. If you think you will benefit from a different chip then do so it's your rig man. :) GG M8
