wifi / mesh hardware choices (two basic options)

Ignoring price, which type of hardware would yield better coverage in a large 2 story house. (cable into the house is on 2nd floor, but literally, no coverage is needed up there)

Using "Orbi AC3000" (RBK53)
or
Netgear AD7200 & a couple of TP-Link AC2600 extenders

It seems they both offer advantages over the other...

Right now we use a WRT54G & an extender and it's simply not working well enough. I borrowed another repeater and the problem is getting signal thru the floor, not so much the walls.

Thanks.

Solution
The latest standard "AV2" powerline network adapters work pretty well. They aren't too expensive, and if you buy them from a store with a liberal return policy you can get credit if they don't work.

I think paying to relocate the input connection would be my first recommendation. Or paying to have an ethernet cable run from upstairs to downstairs. WIFI radiates mostly laterally and less vertically. So any WIFI source on the second floor is of little value to you.

Sadly, neither of those things are going to happen. VERY OCD people, no holes in walls/floors.
I had a thought of using ethernet over A/C lines to get signal downstairs and then use the wifi router & a repeater from there; but not sure how good that ethernet over A/C things works.

Thank you; I guess I will try that.
