External Hard Drive swap

I have a WD external hard drive that I opened and removed drive from. I put in a Seagate hybrid drive and when I plug it into my computer it does not work. I check disk management shows disk 0, I attempt to initialize and get I/O error, no letter assigned. When I check hardware drive shows up as WD and not new drive. How do I get computer to recognize the new drive and not the WD?

Did you check to make sure that drive enclosure is not only setup to work with the WD disk? Not all of them work with any drive. That hardware you see is probably just the enclosure electronics not the drive. Get a normal generic USB enclosure, should work fine.
