I have tried to install my modem on the main floor (only other floor than the attic) of my house, but after following all the installation steps, it still won't connect to the internet.

I've attached a picture showing how everything is set up in the attic, this was all done by the previous owner.

The ethernet cable coming out of the modem is connected to a powerline adapter, so should be irrelevant to my problem

When trying to install it on the main floor it was connected to a coaxial cable port in the wall, and connected to power. It was also connected via ethernet to a pc. I'm fairly certain the problem has to do with all the boxes and cables in the attic.

Solution
You need to figure out where the wall port goes to and connect it into the same place the original setup was or have the isp come out and pay them to get one where you want it.
