I need to upgrade my system. I got a good deal on an i9-7940x and I'm really not sure what MB to best pair it with. My case can support up to an E-ATX MB. Here is what I want to do and maybe you can tell me if it will work or if I can find a MB to accommodate:
I need it to hold three 512GB M.2 SSD's - One for a bootable drive and two together in RAID 0 for a scratch disk for design programs and to load a few games on. Then I need two 4TB SSHD in RAID 1 to store my work/programs on. - I might want to expand with additional SSHD/HDD/SSD in the future but these won't interfere with the RAID configurations I mentioned above.
I plan on putting 64GB of DDR4 RAM in it too... Not sure about how fast my RAM should be. Intel suggests DDR4-2666 for the 7940x but I will need a higher RAM speed for the work I plan on doing. Will it just be considered overclocking my RAM if I get any DDR4 over 3000? Not sure how that works exactly. Would appreciate any advice on a suggested speed too.
I don't plan on overclocking the CPU just yet, unless my H150i Pro can handle it (custom liquid cooling is over my head and out of the question). I'll have to experiment, but the opportunity of having a MB that can easily overclock would be nice.
