I just wanted to know if I can use a 1tb WD caviar green on a Asus P5B

If it is a SATA drive, then yes....

I'd look hard for a 7200 rpm drive or an SSD if possible, however, waiting on system bootup and things to launch with 5400 rpm drives is liking watching paint dry....
