Solution volkgren Jul 4, 2018 No, the Core 2 Duo is not compatible with the H61 chipset. They have a completely different socket. You can choose 2nd and 3rd-gen Intel Core i series CPUs. (and some Celeron and Pentium too, but I recommend Core i). i3-2120 i5-2400 i5-3570 etc.

The outright "best" CPU for that board would be an i7-3770K (or non-K) Upvote 0 Downvote

And can be really fast if overclocked. Not overclocking, best value: i5 3670, i5 2500. Best value for low end: i3 3120 Cheapest, lowest end: Celeron G 1810 Upvote 0 Downvote
