I recently upgraded my gtx 1050 for a 1060 and I saw no performance boost at all. So I upgraded my processor from a amd fx 6300 to a AMD fx 9590 eight core 4.7 ghz. (I noticed while looking up my processor my computer says its using all 8 CPUs but only 4 ghz.) and I still have no increase in frames. Could it be my motherboard?

Please list full pc spec including cpu cooler and psu. The FX9XXX series are terrible, very few motherboards can support there 220w, you need an expensive cooler and AMD recommend at least an 800w psu. After all that it still gets outperformed by the latest i3’s.

Yeah if the 6300 was also running at 4Ghz then there won't be any difference in almost every game since only very few of them use more then 4 cores consistently.

Thank you for your help.

1st of all, what are you using to monitor temps? Anything other than AMD Overdrive will be inaccurate for AMD.

AMD OD uses thermal margin, the max operating temp for your CPU is around 70-75c. Use AMD OD and if the number goes below 15c, your most likely throttling. Probly time to start looking for a better cooler.

I used cpuid Monitor, Thanks this helps a lot.

yea HWMonitor is one of the MOST inaccurate for AMD series.

While in AMD OD you will see a Stability/Stress stest option, go to it. Select all, and run. Watch your temps and clocks while its running, if the system crashes, remember whhat the numbers were as it will help better diagnose.

Try and provide a screenshot with the numbers (temp and clocks) while doing the stress test

I got it from newegg so I dont believe it would be a fake, I bought a 3 year warranty for it, do you think it would be best to get a refund and buy a different processor or upgrade my cooling and Power supply?

did u do what I asked?

Ive never overclocked before and I don't really feel comfortable doing it, but I had msi afterburner open on my second monitor while playing PUBG and watched the temp and msi said while idle i was sitting at 35c and around 60-70c while playing. Im not sure if this helps, but like I said I just don't feel comfortable risking anything, if worse comes to worse ill just get a different processor. Thanks for your help.

What I asked you to do is not over clocking :)

Those temps are a bit high for just gaming. What cooler are you using?
