Windows wont boot after after i reset bios to optimal settings to revert back from overclock.

So i recently purchased a used gaming pc and it has a p8z77v 16gb of hyper x,a core i7 3770 with a gtx 1060.the cpu was overclocked and i reset the bios to optimal settings to bring it back to stock clock and now windows wont boot anymore.i tried installing a fresh copy of windows and it boots to usb and freezes at a blue screen.The hdd is set to ahci(ive tried different modes to check if the old copy was installed with a different mode but hat hasnt worked either).Its frustrating and i've tried multiple sata ports but to no avail.I hope my hdd isnt dead.Does anyone have a solution for this? or should i try reinstalling the sata drivers?

You need to get a new hard disk, that hard disk have issues... if there are boot sector error on that drive then what you are facing is normal. You shouldnt keep any data on the drive... the HDD is going to be dead very soon. Get yourself a new drive. You can go with WD Blue 1 TB those are not that costly.

in the bios try enabling secure boot. Also try reseting the cmos again by taking out the motherboard battery, wait for 30 seconds and put it back again and then try turning on the computer.
Also, before reseting bios, was there any kind of RAID setup?

Im not sure about there being a raid setup or not,but i'll try resetting the cmos and see if that works

the previous had a 1 tb as his primary drive and a 5400rpm 2tb drive which i asked him to take out.i came home and reinstalled windows and everything worked fine until yesterday when i reset the bios to optimal settings from the menu and after a reboot it got stuck at preparing auto repair screen and i reset the system and same old followed except it not goes to black screen with the cursor.

It would help, if you mentioned error, you're getting.
Generally - settings that must be restored to previous values are: sata controller mode (ahci,raid,ide) and boot mode (UEFI, legacy/csm).

Black screen with blinking cursor - incorrect boot mode.

when i boot through usb to install a fresh copy of windows after the asus logo there's a blank blue screen. one other thing i disconnected the sata cable and booted to install windows from the usb and the setup started fine after which i reconnected the sata cable hoping itll run fine now but this time however it didnt recognize the hdd and said the drivers weren't found(pic for reference) and that i had to install them.I plugged back the sata and reset and booted again from the usb but then the same old blue screen after the asus logo.

For this to work, hot plug option for sata port, where drive is connected, must be enabled.

no the cursor wasnt blinking,ive tried all the sata controller modes but that didnt fix the issue either.how do i set the boot mode to legacy? its currently set to uefi

so if i enable the hotplug option it would allow the system to install fresh windows? i dont mind loosing the data in the disk

could there be an issue of sata controller driver not installed since i reset the bios settings

do you have an extra sata cable ... if so try changing the sata cable... is the drive seagate's? If so download Seatools bootable https://www.seagate.com/in/en/support/downloads/seatools/ and run it using a usb drive... If it cant detect the drive or shows smart errors, then its time to replace the HDD.
And one more thing try installing windows 10 (create a usb drive using media creation tool (https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows10)... You have a 1060 and i guess you would be using the system for gaming, so its better to install windows 10 for better gaming experience.

yes its a seagate baracuda 1tb and yes i have a spare sata cable. however if it was a cable issue the bios wouldn't detect the drive in the first place. Really grateful for the help ill try running the disgnostic

so I ran the repair with hdd regenrator and it kept finding error over night until it said' device not ready'. it is to be kept it mind that the disk was already running at 67% health.What i don't understand is why the windows setup crashes as soon as it starts with the hdd plugged in and as soon as i disconnect the sata it goes on fine till the drive format screen.I worried if its a mobo problem, the z77 are really hard to come by these days
