I bought a Samsung 840 EVO 500 GB Solid State Drive SSD MZ7TE500HMHP MZ-7TE500. I was wondering if it compatible with my asus m32bf. or are 2.5" SSDs compatible with most desktops and i don't need to worry about it?
Another question is, does the sata to motherboard cable suppose to fit in the blue slot or does it really matter. I saw that on a youtube video that said if it 6gb/s than you fit it in the blue slot. I trust this site more than youtube :p Thank you kind people of tomshardeare. The force be with you, always...

2.5 inch SSDs are compatible with standard desktops. You may need an adapter to mount it in a 3.5 inch slot if your case does not have 2.5 inch mounting.

There are a couple different motherboard pictures that show up when you google that system. If you can post a picture of yours, that might help.

But it looks like that motherboard only has 3Gb SATA. You won't get maximum performance from that SSD, but it will still be better than any hard drive.

From what I can see about your motherboard, it does not have 6Gbit SATA ports. It is old enough that it only has 3Gbit SATA ports. That means that your SSD will only transfer 1/2 the advertised speed. That is still 3-5X faster than a mechanical drive, but not the "advertised" speed.
