Upload rate different between two devices both connected via ethernet cable

Hi guys,

The issue I'm having is that my ps4 upload is 5 Mbps and my desktop computer can never achieve more than 3 Mbps upload. Both are connected to the same router via ethernet connection. Playstation is less than a meter from the router, the desktop is roughly 15 meters. I currently have a ethernet cable running through the house (about 30 metres in length) to connect my PC. I also have a Powerline adapter which when connected achieves the same download and upload speeds as when running the long cable through the house. Please note the test between PS4 and PC speeds were conducted 10 times each within 30 minutes.

Probably also worth mentioning that the desktop was achieving 5 Mbps upload over the weekend. My network adapter is Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller which is updated to the latest drivers. I have in the last week reformatted my computer so there are very few programs connected to the internet and using the monitor feature of the network adapter indicates nothing is uploading.

I jumped into my modem to check the speeds it is receiving in and out;

Assuming I understand this correctly, the Total Send in the Internet speed section in the above photo is an indication of my upload, now here is a speed from my desktop computer with a wire connection;

I just don't understand what is going on and I am trying to stream on twitch so the 2 mbps upload difference is quite considerable in terms of quality.

Appreciate any assistance!!!

Yes, until you install a driver the Ethernet will not work. Drivers are like the translators that work between the operating system and specific hardware. I found this download for the driver only:

https://www.killernetworking.com/driver-downloads/item/killer-drivers-64bit

This should install the driver only and not the extra software.
Process ... download the driver. Uninstall the killer software you currently have (you may need to restart). Install the downloaded driver.

Why are PC's so difficult? Because it's an open system. Any Tom, Dick, or Harry can sell their widget or software for your PC. Most of them work well, some don't .... but we do get lots of choices and I think that is good.

I hope this fixes your issue, but if...
The first picture is not representative of bandwidth ... only the amount of data that has been sent and received.

You say over the weekend you were getting 5 Mbps upload and then it dropped .. did anything happen/change?
You don't mention anything about a difference in download speeds, so I assume they are the same. I have seen many complaints and suggestions about the Killer E2200. Most people agree that you should not load the killer suite and use the driver without additional apps.

Hi Anotherdrew,

Thank you for your response. Oh I thought the bottom Ethernet section was the amount of data sent and received, my bad! You are correct there is no difference in download speeds between the PS4 & PC. I have an extremely basic knowledge when it comes to computers, the Killer Network thing comes pre-installed on my mobo and when I did my reformat until I agreed to install the killer network I was unable to get any kind of internet connection even with an ethernet cable plugged. I am happy to uninstall and tinker but is there a process I should follow? Not sure if worth mentioning but I had to update the Killer Network program from the website due to a memory leak - this was prior to the weekend where the internet was without issue.

I have only installed games since the weekend, could this be significant?

Why do PC's have to be SO difficult? If its not one things its another.
