Transcend storejet external hard drive not launching..!

Solution
The cable is not really likely to be the problem. IF you have another around (or can borrow one) that works for another device, you could try it as a test. As a further test, try to take your unit to a friend who has USB# ports that work, and see if your drive works there. If it DOES work on another machine, you'll need to investigate your laptop. Of it does NOT work there either, even with a different cable, then the drive is the problem. Let us know what you find.

Thanks for Best Solution.
Not a good sign that it is showing completely unallocated space, but, that's better than it not showing at all....

Do you actually need data from the external drive?

Try a detailed recuva scan on it...

If no data needed, nothing wrong with trying to reinitialize/reformat it, but, perhaps it crashed...

If anything valuable on it, i.e., priceless, try $300 data recovery...

Thanks for taking the time to helping me..
secondly, my harddrive is still under warranty and i hope i can exchange it for a new one, but all i care about is the data on it, so i wish you could guide me through some high quality recovering software but i can't really afford 300 bucks.
thanks again

Before any further panic, check the cable AND the port you are using to connect the drive to the laptop. I have NO doubt it is a USB3 drive type, and that REQUIRES that you use a proper USB3 cable AND connect to a USB3 port on the host computer. Wrong port or wrong cable (even a faulty cable) can default to trying to use as a USB2 device that may NOT receive enough power from its host's port to operate properly. Typical symptom of a USB3 external drive powered only by a USB2 port is that it appears to run and try to work, but fails any attempt to read or write to it.

You could also test by connecting to a known-good USB3 port on another computer.

mahmudanwerzaki, take this situation to learn the importance of backups. The conventional wisdom is known as the 3-2-1 method. Basically you want:

3 copies of any data you don't want to lose
2 different mediums it's stored on (so 2 different drives in your computer, for example)
1 copy kept offsite, to prevent against disaster.

Best of luck.
