Hi, my PSU recently died and I'm in need of buying a new PSU. I'm planning to buy Seasonic S12II 520w, and I'm wondering if this PSU is still good enough for today's standards?

I currently have an old system unit, i5-3470 and I'm planning to buy a GTX 1070 in the near future. Appreciate your help, thanks in advance.

Tiers are very subjective. Anyone could call any PSU a “Tier One” and won’t be wrong, since they haven’t desribed any metric guideline. And every brand will sell different quality products.
So simply saying “this PSU brand is tier whatever” is useless.

The Seasonic G is overall better than the CXM. It can be loud under load however.

Rather mediocre by today's standard. Loose voltages in modern system and lacking important protections, usually very overpriced. I do not recommend a mediocre power supply for a GTX 1070 system.

What other power supplies are available? For budget units look at the Corsair CXM/CX white label, Corsair Vengeance, be quiet! Pure Power 10. High quality power supplies include the Bitfenix Whisper, be Quiet Straight Power 11, Corsair RMx, EVGA G3/G2, Seasonic Focus Plus.

Hi Revlar, thanks for your help. One more thing before I close this thread, I have found a good deal for a Seasonic S12G 550watts, you think this is much better power supply? seeing this one is a 80+ Gold compared to the Corsair CX550M which only have a 80+ Bronze?
