I bought 2x4gb ddr4 2133 MHz ram and added it to my 2x4 ddr4 2400 MHz and both are the same Corsair vengeance brand. Once I booted my pc, everything worked but nothing displayed on the monitor and occasions the computer would repeatedly turn off and on.

It's a crap shoot as SkyBill says. It may be possible to get them working together but will need to try more than just changing the memory speed. And i do stress maybe, so if you're not comfortable changing bios settings, return the memory and buy a kit.

This picture is an example of cas timings. Your motherboard's bios will have similar.

Manually adjust for the Primary Timings column and try the timings your 2133 memory runs at, then try the same for 2400 if timings for 2133 don't work with the two sets together. Can also try command mode set to number 2.

If dram voltage is set to auto, set manually to the specs of your 2400 memory. 1.2v are they? Try 1.35v.

Thats what commonly happens when mixing ram. What you could try is with just the 2400 in force speed to 2133 and manually set timings to the kit that has the highest. Shut down and try the 2133 ram again.

Timings are the cas #. Can find that information in the specifications online or packaging they came in.

No guarantees manually adjusting cas timings will work though.

Mixing RAM is always a crap shoot and having it work isn't a guarantee. It's advisable to not bother trying. That said, so long as the voltages are the same, most mobos will allow mixed RAM so long as the size of the DIMMs are the same capacity. If the timings aren't that far apart, whatever the faster RAM is will be down clocked to match that of the slower RAM. That is... if it works at all. If I were you, I'd take the newer set you acquired back to the store.

Even if you pair the exact same RAM but purchase it later, there's still no guarantee. It's best to always buy the amount you want and in a matched set as those will be fully tested to work as one and without question or issue.
