Hi, and thanks in advance.
The Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro Plus is a gameport-only device, but my computers have USB ports. I am thinking about buying one of these adapters:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-to-15-Pin-Female-Joystick-Game-Port-Adapter-Nest-Converter-PCCABLES-COM/183253027568?epid=2254776483&hash=item2aaabb4af0:g:9GwAAOSws-tbETiV
https://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Joystick-Converter-15-pin-Game-Port-to-USB-000925/381195952952?epid=1737805151&hash=item58c10ca338:g:vWQAAOSwxixaHbwW
Will either of these work with this joystick? Or should I sell it and buy the USB version?
Here is the Product ID of the Sidewinder: 97462-579-0239831-00000
My computers are running Windows 8.1 [laptop] and Windows 8.0 [desktop].
I can provide any additional information if necessary. Thanks again.

Unfortunately, the adapter didn't work. When I plug the controller into the adapter and the adapter into the computer, the device is recognized. [USB sound plays through the speakers.] Additionally, 2 new devices appear under Device Manager: HID-compliant game controller, USB input device.
But, when I go to the "Set up USB game controllers" window, the joystick does not respond to any button presses. [under properties]
I found these drivers, but they don't make any difference: https://rockfire.com.tw/support/driver-download.html
Maybe there are drivers for the joystick itself that I'm missing.
All help is much appreciated.
