Want to upgrade ram for performance

I have a 64 bit computer but windows is 32 bit (windows 7 ultimate)how much ram can i upgrade .
Cuttently my pc ram is 2gb ddr2 i
wanted to buy a set of ram which are two 2gb ddr2 ram sticks .my pc ha 4 slots for ram
Processor:-core 2duo
Dell optiplex 960 mini tower pc
 
Solution
32 bit windows has an address limit of 4GB. Adding more Ram than that won't benefit directly. You can do things like create ram disks, but if you need that explaining it's probably better left alone.

Update to a 64 bit windows version and then more than 4GB of ram can be used.
