I've read the threads with the same topic on these forums and other sites as well and none of the solutions I've tried so have worked for me.

From what I understand, Windows 7 does not have the current-gen usb drivers, so during the installation process my kb+m do not work (either usb 2.0 or 3.0). I can use them in the bios no problem. Both the cd and the usb boot drive I created bring me to the first install screen (choose language etc.), then I'm stuck.

Here is what I've tried so far:

- Updated the image on the usb boot drive with the latest intel usb3 drivers manually.
- Tried again, using dism GUI.
- Tried Asus EZ Installer.
- Used 3 different keyboards, 2 different mice.
- Tried all usb slots.
- Tried PS/2 adapters (kb+m no longer detected...)
- Changed USB options in the bios (every combination).
- Tried unplugging them for 10 seconds and plugging them in again (seems to work for some people)

I don't know what to do anymore and I'm starting to lose my mind lol.

Specs:

i3 8100 s1151
Asus Prime B360-M
Kingston 120 gig SSD
1x8G ddr4

I'm using a copy of Windows from my previous htpc which fried last week after a few years, so I'd like to keep using this copy of Windows and not be forced to buy W10..

Thanks in advance, sorry if I don't respond for a few hours I'm at work.

I've seen others able to install W7 on Skylake and Coffee Lake builds. Is this really specific to the motherboard?

I got the product key and downloaded the latest build, and modified it with the drivers and such.

If it's not supported, how are others doing it and why am I able to begin the installation process if it's not supported? (even though I can't get the keyboard to work)

I wouldn't mind W10, I have it on my laptop, I would just rather not have to dish out 150$ or so if I don't have to if I'm able to find a way :p

Take a look at the links, that motherboard does not have support for WIN7. Try plugging your keyboard and mouse in one of the USB 2.0 ports. Skylake and Coffee Lake are CPU models, has nothing to do with the motherboard. Not saying it can't be done, just is not supported.

Well, like I said in my original post, I tried all the ports, under different circumstances. :( The only thing I haven't tried are the ps/2 ports, but I don't have an older keyboard for that.

Oh well, I'll try a couple more things I just read for the hell of it before I admit defeat...

Thanks anyways.
