Random Computer Crashing while gaming. Gpu related?

I've been having this problem probably for the past 3 months, and I feel like I'm decent with troubleshooting computer problems but this one has stumped me.

No matter the game I play, I will get random crashes. My system sounds normal when it happens and nothing sounds like it is under too much load, the game freezes for 1-3 seconds and then the computer restarts. No BSOD or error screens or dump files. However, it happens more frequently in higher load games, it will rarely happen with something like Skyrim, yet almost immediately as I'm loading a campaign with total warhammer 2. In event viewer its error 41 kernal power or something like that, with no bugcheck code

First I get a black screen saying windows did not shut down properly with the options of starting normally or running safe start (or whatever it is). When the desktop is loaded, the color scheme is set to basic and the resolution is set to the lowest setting which leads me to believe it's some kind of problem with my gpu or graphics driver. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling most of my main hardware drivers, nothing is overheating. When I do a hard manual restart, the effect disappears and my screen resolution and color scheme are back to normal.

The system is relatively old, about 5 years, but I take care of it and want to make it last as long as possible, as I'm not in the financial situation to make upgrades right now.

Also not sure if this is related, but sometimes I will have to restart my computer a few times because the monitor doesn't turn on (no signal), but the computer is on and running. It's responsive when I test the caps and num lock keys too. This usually only happens after one of these crashes.

Here are the specs:

Case : Thermaltake v3 mid tower

Mobo : MSI 970A-G43 (MS-7693)

CPU : AMD FX-6300

GPU : ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 ti

Ram : 1 x Ballistix Sport 8gb ddr3

Power : Corsair CX 430

Storage : Seagate Barracuda 7200 500gb

Thanks for your help!

That's interesting because that's the only part I've replaced in this whole computer 2-3 years ago. My computer crashes the same way during the occt stress test like when I'm gaming.
