CPU red led woes

I've been having some issues with my CPU the last couple of weeks and have exhausted all my efforts at this point. It started crashing while playing graphic intensive games maybe once every couple of days; black screen with the red CPU led on the MOBO. It then started happening more frequently, still only while playing something, but now I was getting a CPU fan error upon restarting the PC. I've pulled the CPU and GPU and reapplied thermal paste, cleaned all components, redone all cable connections and updated my windows 10 with disc. I'm not getting the fan error message anymore but the same red CPU led crash keeps happening, still while gaming but almost immediately after starting to play and sometimes upon restarting the PC. My temps all seem fine, the CPU idle from 30-45, around 10 degrees more when taxed and the GPU idle from 32-38, hitting 62-64 max when taxed. Other strange things that have started happening around this time is a "windows ran in to an error" glitchy blue screen message when my PC comes out of sleep mode as well as my front audio and mic inputs in the PC not working and the back audio and mic inputs being very quiet when used. Not sure if these are coincidence or symptomatic of a CPU or MOBO problem. In desperate need of some expert advice, get me gaming again!

PC specs- system and components are around 4 1/2 years old
Windows 10 64-bit
Thor V2 full atx tower
Asus Sabertooth 990fx R2.0 MOBO
AMD FX-6300 CPU
Asus GTX 660 2gb GPU
8.00gb dual channel DDR3 RAM
120gb Samsung SSD 840 pro series
1tb Seagate HDD

Thanks for your time!

recently tested a different GPU and CPU and still having the same issue. Could it be bad RAM? Or is it more likely to be a motherboard issue?

I've tried both sticks of ram on their own and didn't have any crashes with the programs I used to test them. Still having the same problem when using both sticks together.
