FREE Word XP for windows 7?

Hi,
Right now I have a student version of Microsoft 365 and I'm also using Apache OpenOffice for my word processing needs & etc.

What I really need though is just a simple word processor that I'm already used to such as Microsoft's Word ~XP version, Which is what I'm looking for.


If you guys know of any legal ways to get a hold of this relic, I would really be appreciative.

You use to be able to install a VM copy of windows XP for free on windows 7 but microsoft has since closed that down. I have the old install files downloaded on out server at work so i can still do it but the webpage to get them has been long removed from Microsofts webpage, or is just really hard to find now.

i don't think it is free anywhere. MS is not in the habit of giving away older versions when they really want you buying the newest one.

i still use office 2007 myself cause i hate the layout of the new versions so i can understand you desire. however, i don't know of any legal way to get these older versions free, or even paid for that matter.

edit:
a quick look and you can still download office 2007 from MS if you have a valid key for it.

maybe you can find a used key or something somewhere and can download that one. not as old as xp but still easier to use than the newer versions.

i thought of that as well but he said he already had the student edition of the new office. it's just how ugly and cumbersome it is to use this new version with all the ribbons and crap all over the place. makes it hard to find what you need and harder everytime they update it and change things around. he looking for older version that he knows how to use and that they are not gonna change on him day to day.

same reason i still use 2007 version. it just works and let's me get done what i need. can still save as docx and save to pdf and so on but lacks the crappy interface they keep making worse and worse....
