hello all good people.

i have decided on 8700k and im choosing between asrock z370 pro and msi z370 a pro
im planning to but OC to conservative 4.7 or 4.8

what board is better, i dont really need fancy rgb boards and stuff.

any advice greatly appreciated

Is budget an issue?
How many threads do you need for your apps?
I7-8700K has 12, I5-8600K has 6, I3-8350K has 4.
All will oc to near 5.0 depending on your luck in getting a good chip.

Check out user reviews on newegg or amazon by actual users for your candidate motherboards.
Look at the negative reviews.
Any motherboard can arrive doa. I would ignore those along with obvious user errors.
You are looking for indicators of bad quality or engineering to steer you away from any particular model.
What software are you using that you feel would benefit from an overclocked 8700K? And does your audio work involve recording with microphones or carefully listening to audio tracks, where the sound generated by the cooling system for this overclocked hardware might potentially be a problem?

where i live price difference is about 1-2 euros, and one major difference is that asrock has usb type c connection.. now will i use it? dont know..

If your interest is in sound, I would pick the Asrock Z370 pro.
It uses the ALC1220 sound vs. the MSI ALC 892
ALC1220 is considered better quality.
If you will be using a discrete sound card, the motherboard is irrelevant.
There may be some Z370 motherboards with even better onboard sound; you need to research that.
Asus rog may use the supremeFX alc s1220a.
Best you research sound issues yourself, I am no expert there.

As to other motherboard differences, there is likely little to distinguish one Z370 from the other for basic functions.

I kind of share these concerns as well. Are you planning to use an external sound card or an Amp/DAC combo? If not your audio could be quite noisy, even when not overclocking.

Also, USB C might be useful in the future, especially if you get a new phone or some sort of external storage. USB C could be nice to have, but I imagine that USB A 3.1 will be with us for quite a while.

thank you for the answers,

i will use audio interface, the same im using now, via usb,

benefit for oc, well the perfomance, mainly using digital audio workstations, plugins and all that jazz, like im using these days, so cpu is the main component of my build, and if i can squeeze more juice of the cpu, i will, (cooling with dark rock 3, or 4 )

so basically both of them will work just fine for me, (bios in msi looks more pleasing in my opinion, maybe go with that? ) :) im joking of course
