I just bought a Samsung 500gb SSD. The first thing i did was plugging the correct cables into it. The hard drive was still plugged in. I started my computer up and cloned hdd to ssd. That worked, then it asked me to shut down my computer which i did. I put the boot order for the computer to boot up in as follows, SSD HDD CDRom. Started the computer now it is showing C:\ as my primary drive and i am not seeing my ssd on windows explorer. i dont know what to do

Hi graywolfthegreat :)

I would say your cloning has gone wrong. Maybe settings for boot partition is incorrect.
Clear CMOS and reflash Bios to current version. Don't clone the system but do a fresh instal of Windows 10 using Media Creation Tool. You should be able to reconfigure your Bios once updated and set your Boot priority.
You can retrieve any important files from your HDD later.

you have the os on hdd so you did clone it to ssd but after when you want to start it up you need to remove the hdd from system so it will detect the ssd with os one the you could put in in uefi as primary boot device only after you did made a complete boot in the os with ssd you will be able to had the hdd and remove old os from it .

yes i have the OS on HDD. I cloned the ssd it to the SSD, and currently while typing this message to you i have windows 7 installed on it via the hdd cloning. So i have to go to the bios and change the ssd to uefi? And primary boot, right? I want to make the hdd a storage hard drive.

At the end of the cloning process, you must power off, physically disconnect the old drive, and allow the system to try to boot up from the new drive by itself.

Assuming the original drive still boots up, redo the cloning process.
Just like this:
Specific steps for a successful clone operation:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.
Delete the 450MB Recovery Partition, here:

I have the HDD on storage, i don't know if it has a os, but it runs games off of it like steamapps and gog.com and orion. I was wondering if you use the storage to run your games, that you utilize the ssd benefits. SSD has os on it, windows 7.
