The printer may report low levels.

Printed lines will have grey (versus black) characters or blank blotches.

Or the colors may appear faded or be completely wrong depending on what cartridge ran out first.

Most manufactures provide a starter cartridges but they are not entirely full.

Just keep printing until the ink is truly gone.

However, if you are doing large print jobs and cannot have the printing interrupted then change the ink beforehand.


Otherwise, some number of pages will print properly and then the following pages will be messed up.

Then you install the applicable new cartridges and begin printing again from the first affected page to the end.
