What instructions do you have: manual, quick start?

E.g.:

https://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=139801

Do you have administrative access to the network router? If not you will need help from whoever does have the necessary admin rights.

Go online and look for some supplementary tutorials.

Look for some "how to" videos as well.

Key is for you to identify some specific issue or problem that is occurring. An error message or code perhaps. Or something else that is happening or not happening as expected.

Post that information.

I would agree with the above you likely should just buy a newer device. Most the older devices used proprietary methods and would not work with all routers. Many times to make it work you had to run the security set to WEP which is has been completely compromised. To make this work with modern routers it needs to use WDS and I don't think that devices supports that.

Even if you get it to work the performance is going to be rather poor. These devices were used when 10mbps internet was a fairly fast internet connection.

It is not so much if it support g its more if whatever proprietary method the repeater uses is supported.

The newer equipment uses WDS and even that is not fully supported by all routers since it is a non standard extension of the protocol. Apple for example did not support it until very recently.

I strongly suspect you will have to ether use WEP or no encryption to make it work. Both are a major security exposure.

Again I recommend you put it in the trash can rather than take the risk.
