What should I do with the voltage slider in MSI afterburner?

So i'm trying to overclock my gtx 1070 ti and i'm not quite sure what to do with the voltage slider. I am hearing mixed opinions. Some say move it the same way when overclocking a cpu whereas others say just slide it all the way to the end... isn't that quite dangerous? Some have said that the upper limit is locked but I'd rather get a 100 percent certain answer.

What do you guys think?

Moving it to the max isn't dangerous in itself, unless doing so results in the card running hot which could in theory reduce the lifespan of the card a bit.

Personally I think just maxing voltage right off the bat is stupid because it means you're going to run into power/thermal limits much faster, potentially resulting in a lower overclock than if you had just incrementally increased voltage as you go along.
