NVME 970 EVO constantly hanging and being slow

I recently got my Samsung 970 EVO (500GB) today and set it up with the stock Windows 10 version. I got all the drivers for the motherboard, NVME and the others.

Windows 10 took around 2 hours to install the updates and other applications are constantly hanging mid-way through installation with the odd application throwing crashes to the screen with no relevant error. The game Star Citizen also took a good couple hours just to check for files after downloading.

Star Citizen was transferring 50-100 files a second and had 150,000 to do in total

I thought I'd try a fresh installation of Windows, but this time with the updates pre-downloaded and installed and it is still giving me similar issues

The results I got from Samsung Magician were slightly above the specifications for the model, I'd grab you a screenshot but I'm out for the day

Just Windows Defender, no special software either. Although I'll disable Defender and see if that impacts anything in the next couple hours.

I have my doubts though sadly as on bootup right after the motherboard screen a little underscore appears for a brief moment.

Hoping it's not a fault with the SSD as I'd hate to have to part with such beauty for time :)
