Moved my media drives to another computer. There are three of them. However now, I have extra shortcuts for them. Some work, some don't, but I only need three and I have six. How can I delete/rename them?

Icon's?

Right click and chose "Delete". (Or "Rename" if you wish to be extra cautious. Use a name that indicates an old or non-working icon. E.g., "Old-****" or "Not-working ****" where **** is the foldername.

Just be sure that you eventually delete only the non-working shortcuts.

Not following.

Those are shared folders, network locations - not shortcuts.

Shortcuts have a small blue arrow in a white square touching the lower left corner of the target application or link.

Because you moved the target files the "extras" no longer point to the correct location.

When you right click do you have a disconnection option for the icons that are not working?

Right click and select properties for each of the duplicated files. Check the tabs, etc. in detail.

Determine which one(s) you wish to keep. Rename accordingly - just temporarily as needed.

Delete the files in the folders you do not wish to keep. Drag and drop to the recycle bin. Unshare the to be removed folder(s) and try deleting again. Drag to recycle bin if possible.

So the preferred, or at least advised method is to empty the shared folders and then unshare/delete them? All well and good, but I have hundreds of GB and that volume of data does not move incredibly fast. Just wondering if there is another way?

I'll try just unsharing in every way that I can think of while the transfer does it's thing. One of the two should work?

Update: Went to Properties and Advanced Sharing for one of my duplicates. Unchecked the box that says "Share this folder". It removed one of the network paths. Another is still alive and well. That's not weird...

Update 2: There were some actual hard drives that were being shared. Everything is now unshared and all of the shared folders are now gone. Time to rebuild. Should be done here. Thanks!
