My friends can't connect to my game servers

When i try to make a server on a game (say a tf2 map for me and my friends only), my friends will try to join. When it is almost finished, it will fail on them and they don't join. Hiwever when they create the same map, i can join with ease, and it gets annoying. I know this is not the wifi, as i can connect with friends online on other devices. I wish to get this issue resolved soon, since i had it when i first got the laptop. I have tried resetting, temporarily disabling my firewall, antivirus program, and dell protection, but to no avail. If anyone can fix this issue, please tell me how.

Not an area or subject that I am familiar with per se.

However, as I understand it all, you do need admin rights and access to your router.

From the second link:

"Then, here’s the last step before you run the server. You will have to do some port forwarding in order to let people join. As I do not know which router you’re using, I would like to ask you to visit How To Forward a Port and find your router’s model number in the list of all routers."

The only error messages are the ones the game provides, i'm not using any port forwarding or a static IP (as far as i can tell), and i don't know who has the admin rights to the network router.
