The i7-8550U comes with AMD Radeon 530 (4GB) / 16 GB RAM / 1 TB HDD @ 5400RPM

The i5-7300HQ comes with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (4GB) / 16 GB RAM / 1 TB HDD @ 7200RPM

The i5-8250U comes with NVIDIA GeForce 940MX (2GB) / 8GB RAM / 1 TB 5400RPM and 128 GB M.2 SSD

Which CPU is best? and which overall machine is best?

The intended use for the machines are VMware, Programming and Editing softwares, browsing and multi-tasking along with some gaming. Im looking for an all rounder.

Thanks.

"some gaming" is not helpful information since old 2d games and new 3d games can count as 'gaming' yet the requirements for each are widely different.

In general, I'd stay away from 5400 rpm OS drives since I think they are painfully slow. As a data drive they are alright. For VM use, memory is valuable, once again depending on the specifics of what you're doing which you don't mention. The 940MX can be a decent card in the DDR5 version.

I think it's a toss up between 2 and 3. The extra threads may come in handy, depending on what you're doing, but the extra memory may be more important. Then again, you can probably add more memory if needed but you can't add more threads.
