Hello!
I have just built a new pc, and have an HDD with Windows already installed. When I try to boot from it, I get a nonstop cursor blinking. When I try to boot from the Windows 10 USB, it crashes after I select 64x Windows. I have tried all I can do, and now I am stuck. Thanks!

Well, darn it. Thank you for your help. Is there any way to tweak anything to make is compatible, or any software or drivers?

Not that i'm aware. Some people run Windows 10 on older computers that do not support it, but there is no guarantee it will be stable or work at all.

Sorry to post on an answered thread, but I was wondering if it would even be worth upgrading the MOBO, as I do not know if the CPU supports Win 10. Do you know? Although on the Win 10 Compatibility checker, it is not listed, I had an i5 750 that I ran Win 10 on just fine. That makes me think that it should support it. The CPU again is an i5 650. Thanks!

Windows 10 support is tied to the motherboard chipset and drivers, not the CPU. I don't think you will find a different motherboard that will support Windows 10 any better than what you have now. You should be able to install Windows 10 on your Asus P7H55-M SI, it's just a question of how stable it will run. In you original post you said you tried to boot from a HDD with Windows already installed on it, but that will probably not work. You need to do a clean install with the new motherboard. Why it crashes after you select 64x Windows from the Windows 10 USB, i'm not sure. Try creating a new Windows 10 USB.

Hi. For general info, I am also cursed with a P7H55M. I ran windows 10 on it for a year and and a half, the main problems being the temporary and permanent disappearance of USB ports. But now it has shut down issues and I am now looking for a new mobo and set up. The big problem with the P7H55M is that the CPU socket is the redundant 1156. You can only find used or dodgy new generic mobos with 1156 socket, and i doubt any will run on w10. o if you upgrade your mobo, you will have to change CPU, too. And maybe memory.

I curse the day I caved in to Microsoft badgering about installing W10. they should have had a check t see if the mobo was compatible.
