Any actual experiences that ensures this to work? My friend is selling me a 2TB 2.5inch 7200RPM drive for my 2nd drive bay Caddy for my MacBook Pro.

It was originally formatted for Windows, and I would now like to format it for a MacOS High Sierra environment.

Any tips?! Thanks

Solution
All you'll need to do is get the drive plugged into the Mac. Open up Disk Utility and format the drive using the APFS file system (assuming you are on at least High Sierra 10.13) and it should be immediately available for use.

Currently, macs use APFS (Apple File System) which was introduced with High Sierra, but before that, they used Mac Os Extended (as found in the disk utility app).
If you are trying to replace the hard drive loading it on the flash drive will allow you to boot into it when you hear the "bong" press and hold the option button until the aptly named (you guessed it!) options menu. After that boot into the drive and select disk utility, then format according to which software you wish to use.
