Hello -

My brother gifted me a Seagate ST6000NM0245 6 TB 3.5" Internal Hard Drive. Unfortunately it's a SAS connector instead of SATA. He didn't realize there was even a difference. We're outside of the 30-day return policy.

I'm either trying to sell on ebay at a big discount or buy a SAS to SATA adapter. I have a ASUS Prime Z370-P motherboard on a PC that a boutique PC company built for me. Any hope it getting it to work on my rig?

Thanks a bunch!

No such thing as SAS to SATA adapter, they are completely different command sets. You will need a SAS HBA or RAID controller and plug it into a PCI-Express slot.

You can find used LSI RAID controllers flashed to IT mode for 70 bucks or so used on ebay that will work with modern OS's, older version will likely not have drivers for Windows 10

Bummer. Than in that case, I'll try to sell it. I'd rather sell at a $70 loss and buy a SATA drive instead of getting a LSI RAID controller and keeping this SAS one. Hopefully I can find a buyer...

If anyone has any recommendations on where I could sell a single one of these hard drives, please let me know. Obviously eBay, but other options would be good.
