I have a better computer than my friend, a much better one, and he gets much more fps, and I just reset my computer to try and fix it and it did'nt work. Help please!

ok, since you didn't provide a whole lot of info how are we supposed to help you? your friend gets better fps and you have a better PC that you just reset. whats that mean exactly? you hit the power button? cleared cmos? unplugged it? are you picking up what i'm putting down?

start with specs of your PC, what fps are you getting and what are you expecting? what are your friend's specs? what resolution are you both playing at? without this info your post is useless. I'm not trying to be a jerk i'm telling you this so people can help you

If you are running 8gb in single channel then yes there is something wrong kinda. You need fast ram for ryzen and it really benifits from running it in dual channel. Get a 16gb kit preferably (8gbx2) 3200mhz that'll make A HUGE DIFFERENCE. Good luck

People shouldn't say things such as, "The frames that you are getting are great, so you don't need to worry." It's still understandable that he wants higher, especially if he's on a 144-hertz monitor.

Anyway, the person who is getting more than double your frames may be playing on lower settings. Some people (especially in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds) lower their settings even if they have a very good P.C. in order that the game plays smoother. Do you know what settings he was using?

Guess previous answers didn't satisfy this question?

The Ryzen 7 1700 is a great processor. However it sports a relatively low clock speed which holds it back a little in both gaming and desktop workloads. For multi-core workstation use, the Ryzen 7 1700 is a great choice. This means, no, this is not a gaming processor, and you won't see super high frame rates unless you lower the settings a bit.

You're right, but the difference definitely should not be double - not even close. Looking at some benchmarks shows that the difference is there at times, but it's nothing that's absolutely insane. Over double the frames would be absolutely insane.

Sorry, it also works much better with faster RAM. I don't use Ryzen, so I don't know all of the specifics.

Hmm so maybe a program running in the background is the issue. I would check to make sure you have no rogue applications running in the background.
Open task manager on a fresh boot, and open your startup program list. Report back with what programs you have there.
