Hello there I have two laptops. Me and my wife started working from home now and we have a problem. We need to be connected to the internet by an ethernet cable. But when we connect to our network router at the same time, even thouh it has 4 LAN outputs, only one laptop can connect to the network and on the other it says that there is an undentified connection. When I start the troubleshooting it says something about the IP adress that its not okay. How can I solve this problem? Is there something that I need to know or that I need to buy so that we both can connect to the network with an ethernet cable at the same time?

Solution
Don't set static IP addresses on the laptops. The reason for turning on DHCP, is for the router to assign the IP addresses to the laptops. Another thing you may want to consider is doing is a factory reset of the router. You'll need to look up how to do this in the router's manual. Then, go through the router's setup routine again. My thoughts here, is to get everything back to a beginning state and reset everything up. Also, reset the ethernet settings on both laptops.
