I am going to make my first build soon but am scared of a DOA motherboard, what are the chances of it happening and what are the chances that I won't have it refunded. I've browsed lots off motherboards and can't find any that doesn't have a few reviews talking about a DOA product. Should I be very worried about this or is it very uncommon?

If you purchase your hardware from a reputable vendor (think Amazon, not one of the amazon shops, newegg or microcenter) they will either replace or refund any DOA hardware. Also individual hardware will have their own warranties as most vendors only have a 2-4 week window for returns. As far as how often it happens, I have built probably close to 50 different computers or iterations of computers since 2005 and havent seen a single DOA item. Not to say that it wont happen, but the chances are pretty low

In some cases, these people might not know what they're doing either, and may be simply not inserting a compatible processor or other component.
