So im upgrading my i5-6400 and I have my eyes set on an i7-7700 or an i7-7700k. I decided on the 7700 because the 7700k doesn't come with a heatsink and I didn't want to invest in a separate heatsink, but should i? If I do I'll get the hyper 212 Evo, but i don't know if it's worth it because I'm not looking to overclock. Should I get it even if I get the 7700? Also there wouldn't be any huge bottlenecking issues with either of the processors with the 1060 right? I was reading and some said there would be and others said there wouldnt. Would really like to buy whatever CPU with confidence, thanks!

Solution
It depends entirely on the prices of cpu and mobos in your country.
An I5-8400 is somewhat better than an I7-7700 (not K).
An I5-8600 is similar to an I7-7700K.
You have to add the price of a mobo B360 or H310.

Neither of the two will bottle the GTX 1060 3G.
The 7770K is about 10% more powerful, but you do not need this excess power for the GTX 1060 3G.

The possible reasons for not using the stock cooler in a processor without OC are that you consider that it makes too much noise or that you have a very small case where it does not fit (very strange thing).

It must be said that these two new CPUs have a high price by what they give.

That said, if you already have DDR4 memories, you should consider the Coffee Lake alternative. Probably, even if you have to buy a new mobo, it's worth it.

To help you better, can you tell us your current specifications?

ASUS H110M-A Motherboard
Intel Core i5-6400 2.7Ghz
8GB DDR4 Memory
GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
1TB HDD

So you don't think that the 7700k or 7700 are worth it because 8th gen isn't compatible with my mobo and I can't afford to buy a whole new one right now.
