Hi guys, i'm just wondering whether i should upgrade my GPU or CPU. The CPU i currently have is an AMD FX 6350 and the GPU i currently have is a GTX 950. And if i were to upgrade my GPU do you think a i7 2600k would be worth it since it's quite old, i have a budget or $300

Thanks!

Solution
I would upgrade your CPU will require a motherboard as well did you calculate that in your #300 budget ? because for 300$ you can do better than that.

such as : PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel - Core i5-8400 2.8GHz 6-Core Processor ($178.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI - B360M PRO-VD Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($61.89 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Mushkin - Essentials 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory ($75.99 @ Newegg Marketplace)
Total: $316.77
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

either which would kick that I7-2600K around, selling your current system parts will permit you to get more ram

Gaming? I'd get a good GPU now and live with the bottleneck. Move it over to your new system when you upgrade that next. You really need to upgrade both. Upgrading the GPU now will help now, but will leave you with an older GPU when you finally upgrade your CPU. Upgrading your CPU now won't increase your gaming much, but you'll have a good system after only two upgrades. (Depending on how long it takes you to get more money.)
