Hello everyone. Long story short, my GPU stopped working yesterday. PC crashed in the middle of a game with a strange sound and weird lines on the display. It has happened to me a couple times before during the last 6 or so months. I used to blame DirectX 12 for it, nevertheless it probably wasn't the issue. As I usually do, I had to restart the PC, only this time the monitor did not detect the GPU. I tried to restart it a couple more times, connect it via VGA rather than HDMI but nothing worked. I connected the monitor to my laptop to check if there is anything wrong with the monitor but that worked just fine. I got the same result when I connected to the PC but used the integrated Intel GPU rather than the dedicated one - it worked just fine. Therefore, I came to a conclusion that the fault is with the dedicated GPU. Any idea what might be wrong with it and how and if I can fix it? I have it for almost 4 years now so it's no longer under warranty and service could cost me almost half of the original price for the GPU, so I was wondering whether there is something I can try on my own. So far, I tried to remove the GPU, clean it, uninstall, clean and reinstall the drivers but all I get is the black screen when I turn on the PC. Any response or advice will be strongly appreciated. Cheers.

BTW my specs: MSI R9 270 Gaming 2G, Intel Core i3-4160, Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 CL9, GIGABYTE GA-B85M-D3H - Intel B85, Seasonic Energy Knight SS-500ET, T3 500W OEM.

1| Did you take the GPU to a friend's house and seen if it actually works?
2| Have you tried borrowing a different ,more reliable, unit(PSU) from your neighbor or friend to verify that the PSU isn't failing?
3| You didn't mention the OS you're on.
4| Last check, see if you're on the latest BIOS update, i.e F15.

I'm tying the issue to your PSU here. How old is it?

I have not tried to put my GPU in other PC but I will try that. I am updating my Bios as we speak and will let you know in case it changes something. My PSU is old as the whole PC, i.e. almost 4 years. I am running on Windows 10.

UPDATE: I updated BIOS to the latest version but the issue remains. I also tested the GPU with a different PC - basically identical rig with a different PSU (Be quiet! Pure Power L8 500W) and it did not work either. I suppose it's the GPU after all. Any idea what might be wrong and how and if I can fix it? Thanks.
