Trying to decide what PSU I should get, upgrading an older computer for low end gaming
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01287561

with Intel Dual Core Q9650 CPU, GTX 750 TI, 4GB RAM, and a 240GB SSD
wanting to possibly overclock it a bit...

I'm stuck between

Read a lot of bad reviews on this PSU but the price is unbeatable from what I can see
EVGA 500B 500W 80 Plus Bronze $29.89
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1001257-REG/evga_100_b1_0500_kr_500w_80plus_bronze_power.html

Or

Obviously this one is better but more than double the price
EVGA SuperNOVA 550 G3 80 Plus Gold $69.99
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LWTS2UL/ref=twister_B01LXKQ07C?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

If your PSU fails it can ruin your whole computer right?

If anyone can recommend me a better PSU for a lower price that'd be great, any opinions on these PSU's and why I should/shouldn't get one would be great too

I read a lot about Seasonic, Corsair, and Super Flower PSU's are these all around at lower price points going to be just as good?

The cheapest yet good quality power supply in the US right now is the Corsair CX / CXM Grey label.
Those S12iis, Corsair cx green label, are not good power supplies, and usually overpriced.

I would get the G3.

the Q9650 is a quad core

drop the ssd and get 8gb of ram ( total) with a gtx 1050 ti

corsair CX 450w is plenty for your needs

CX 450W

Would the 450 / 550 be okay? From what I've read they're good unlike the older counterparts - do I need a 550 or would 450 suffice?

I ment Intel 2 Dual Quad Core - something like that

My motherboard only supports 4GB RAM so it's not possible to exceed I assume...

Thanks for the advice.

core 2 duo

if your mobo is only capable of 4gb of ram then you are not overclocking on it at all
since it is probably a pre-built setup yes?
