I have a USB that I would plug into any pc to boot into an Ubuntu os that I could just take around with me, but I have no idea how to wipe the thing (as i no longer need the os).

Windows can't really access it or format it (it can but it doesn't factory reset/actually wipe the thing).

If there is a simple way to do it please let me know. Also it doesn't have two passwords (I know both so I assume it shouldn't be a problem).

You need a program to run as admin. Some of the writers put permissions on the files.
I'd try deleting the partitions as admin. Once it's raw put a filesystem back on.
It's a little easier to do in ubuntu if you did install that on something.
