Hey guys,

I have an old motherboard - P55 UD3L, and for some reason my Windows 7 has started freezing on startup when I have my second memory stick in. I currently have Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 2 x 8gb 2400Mhz, and I know that the motherboard states only 2,200Mhz, so I have always ran it at just 1,333Mhz.

Never had a problem until recently, and when the computer has both memory sticks in (slot 1 & 3), it freezes a few seconds after boot. However, with just one 8gb stick in slot 1 it works absolutely fine.

I have considered updating my BIOS again to make sure it's up to date, but I cannot understand if I am downloading the right BIOS file. When I go to the motherboard page it says the latest is rev 2.3 (FI) - https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-P55-UD3L-rev-23#support-dl

However, when I download the FI file it is called this - motherboard_bios_ga-p55-ud3l_v1.1_v2.0_fi

Why does it state v1.1 v2.0 when it should be rev 2.3? Is this the latest update?
In CPU-Z it currently states rev 11 and rev 06 which I have no idea what that means.

If anyone has any thoughts on the correct download for the latest BIOS update, please let me know so I can try that. Or if I am doing anything wrong with the BIOS settings for RAM etc.

Please note that I am not using XMP as it doesn't work - says it is an overclock and unstable and just goes back to auto running at 1,333Mhz.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. My BIOS will go up to 1.64v and then 1.66v (doesn't have the option for 1.65v. So is 1.64v ok to try?

Also, are you happy that the FI download IS rev 2.3? (the latest)

Normal voltage for DDR3 is 1.5V. Try increasing it slightly - by 0.02V first.
Can you show screenshot from CPU-Z ? Are you sure, your board is revision 2.3?

Don't know how to add a screenshot onto here? However, I have updated the BIOS to FI, and it is showing as such in CPU-Z. I think it did before to be honest as I did update a while ago, but wasn't sure if I'd done it correctly.

I increased the voltage to 1.56v (that was the only choice after 1.5v), and so far so good. I am currently using 16gb as I type this. If it freezes again I will up the voltage to the next level as see what happens.

Hopefully you have solved the problem :)
